Hatteras was bitter sweet this year.

Posted by Jerry 1 Jun, 2010
Last October Charlie Reeves the founder of Windfest passed away. This was the first Windfest without him. Many good memories of Charlie were shared on the beach and around the fires at night by all the Windfest participants and anyone who new Charlie. We had a little memorial service of our own lighting candles and sending them off into the night on Pamlico Sound. We miss you Charlie and thank you for creating such a great event over the years.

Candle lighting for Charlie.

Good weather, good friends, good wind, good food and good sunsets,  what more could you ask for?

Packing for two weeks in Hatteras.

Posted by Jerry 12 Apr, 2010

Well it’s that time of year again. Two weeks of  wind and wild weather in Hatteras. This is our 13th year in a row going to Cape Hatteras in April. It is always fun and always an adventure. We camp at Frisco woods Campground. You can sail right from your campsite and sometimes I mean RIGHT from your campsite. When the wind goes North and cranks the place floods.

Windfest is the 15th,16th & 17th at Frisco Woods. Grass roots gathering of windsurfers with bonfires nightly and the BOARD TOSS one night.

Come check it out!

If anyone is going to be down in Hatteras between the 15th and the 28th and they want to try the Panther II’s come find me at Frisco Woods or look for my big green Ford E-250 with the Chatham Wind and Time logo on the side.

Off da lip...

Out running a close out

Love the new Panthers

Posted by Jerry 8 Apr, 2010

I am really a dog person but these cats are great!!!

I got out on my 5.2 the other day in light wind and head high waves. Dogging out, but once on a wave on the way in it was all milk and honey!!!

The new Panther’s are sweet!

In like a lion!!!

Posted by Jerry 15 Mar, 2010

March has been real windy. The only down fall is it has only been in the mid 40’s when it’s blowing. But my new Excel 5/4/3 makes it feel like summer time.

Cape Cod’s first cold windsurfing day…. but still fun!!

Posted by Jerry 20 Nov, 2009

I set up my video camera on the dash of my van and just let it run. This is what I came up with. I was the only windsurfer for the fist part of the session. A bunch of other windsurfers showed up after I was done filming.

Blocktober Fest 2009

Posted by Jerry 20 Nov, 2009

Went to Block Island ( Small Island off the East Coast) For 5 days in October. Killer 5 days! Had some good wind and waves to ride, good friends, a few beers and some great weather!! We did not get some great pictures because no one wanted to sit on the beach with a camera.

Here is a shot of one ride but we had much better rides than this.

Down the line in side-off wind.

The bummer summer is ending but the Great White sharks have invaded my playground!!

Posted by Jerry 12 Sep, 2009

It was not the best wind summer on Cape Cod but I was very busy with work. I guess I should not complain. Better to have to much work these  days.

So over the last two weeks Great White sharks have moved into my home sailing spot and are chomping  on seals!

Not sure what to do. I know they have always been there but not in these numbers! And to see them in such shallow waters. This is right where we sail most of the time. Not so worried when sailing but if I get crushed by a wave and have to swim for my rig. Sketchy!!!!!!

SW summer winds are on the way

Posted by Jerry 15 Jun, 2009

The first real SW warm and windy day on Nantucket sound. For me nothing beats a 4.7 session. Well ok a 4.7 session in head high waves is best but I will take a 4.7 bump and jump session any day of the week. Check out this video By Jerry Johnson  (Sorry for the kite Kooks)
