Brazil nuts
Just back from my Jeri, Brazil clinic where i got out on my new Panther 2’s. They have all the awesome virtues of the previous Panther and now feel smoother and lighter, due to the new material in the centre of the sail. I think you will agree they also look more visually striking too !!
Off to Cape Town next : )
If you want some coaching then please join me on a clinic this year, but book early as they are selling out quick

Punta San Carlos, Baja, Mexico goes off
A very good day to you all and I hope you have enjoyed some water time in the time since my last post. I am just back from my inaugural clinic to Punta San Carlos / Baja, Mexico courtesy of Solosports and then my usual September Rhodes mission. I must apologise for this pic heavy long post but I think you will agree that it is worth it and that both my clients and the photographers: Clark Merrit (Solosports) and Gary Lawton (client ) have surpassed themselves.
As you can gather PSC went off, best ever, oh my god, and many other superlatives that perhaps would be less PC. We had great wind and an amazing swell, my crew of 10 from all around the world truly went hard at it hard The interesting fact is that of the 10, 8 of them were BUILT IN RHODES, and so if you have the fundamentals right then your wavesailing will rip – plane early, sail fast, fly upwind, look where you go, get low and keep the boom away – it’s all there. Thanks to all of my Baja beauties for a great week / 2 weeks and purely for giving it their best and attacking the lip with passion. And the surfing and SUping was also amazing!! I will be back to PSC NEXT YEAR on Aug 21 – 28 2010.
I am just getting sme pix back from my 2 week coaching clinic in Rhodes and will post on this next. I am now off to Brandon Bay, Ireland for my WINNER TO WAVESAILOR WAVE COACHING CLINIC and then it will be Marvelous Mauritius. If you want to rip then come join me and get your windsurfing performance enhanced : )
True Brit – south coast action
Had the chance to catch up on some top Uk action recently. We had a pretty bad June by all accounts as i was coaching in Rhodes at this time. But July has stepped up and given us heaps of wind, some sun and some good old english rain : )
Some weekends even saw 3 days in a row and I bet there were some pretty broken people at work on the Monday. Even when the waves are small it is still great to throw some down some big forwards and backies and seek out the odd wave smack and still enjoy all the crashes that will inevitably come out of this
In these pics I am using the new RRD FSW 96 and it was ripping, it is faster, looser and jumps higher than the previous years RRD FSW’S which majored on control, smooth sailing and sweet carves. It was 4.2 weather but on my 4.7 i just cranked on the downhaul until the inside swoosh was loose and then fired on the outhaul. The top end of the panther is just amazing and you must try it out rather than changing down sometimes.
I am off to Punta San Carlos on August 14th for a shoot and my first wave clinic there – can’t wait ..
I will get you some pics and a report from there. Live life with passion : )

Technique series in Czech mag
Article on JemArticle on JemWell I have been off my blog for too long so here is a look at an interview and my new technique series in a Czech mag.
I will post again soon some pics oy my clients enjoying the ezzy freeride 3 out in Rhodes in June and July. I have just had the chance to get out on the infinity 3 7.5 and was blown away by how easy it is to rig, sail and just go suuuuper faaaaast on it. The sail comes with 3 sets of cams fro sdm, rdm and medium thickness masts and a guide as to how best use them and you can use without as well : )
The sail went down a storm at a recent demo in Yorkshire, England. so cheerio for now but i will post more soon. Punta San Carlos and my inaugural wave clinic beckons in August – bring it on
enjoy,
Jem
RRD R + D in Tarifa
hey there, sorry for the long gap in posts but been pretty manic with coaching, clinics and promo. Plus finishing off my latest movie – Winner to Wavesailor.
I am currently out in Tarifa, Spain doing a bit of R + D on some future collections for RRD which is going real well with many potential shapes looking real sweet. Was about to head out yesterday when Lo from Singapore Ezzy distribution stole my 7.0 Ezzy freeride 3, but it was great to see that he was pretty much the only one planing on the water!!
I am out to Rhodes next week for 4 one – week clinics and then I have my Punta san carlos wave camp in Baja, Mexico on Aug. 21 – 29 and where i still have a few places left.
enjoy your season and sail with passion.
Jem
Hey, Just back from Cape Town which was amazing. Some great days and lots of Ezzy Panthers on view. The wind is mainly 4.7 weather but on this sail you must use it in 10 to 30 knots so the huge untuned range of the sail was just so awesome for keeping me in control in riding and jumps.
The water is cold, the waves are sweet and most of Europe goes there to train / holiday for the winter. There are so many spots that you score some sailing almost every day if you are willing to drive. One of my favourites is Platboom in the Cape of Good Hope nature reserve, but be careful of the baboons.
Thanks to Suntrax out there who lent me a sail and a re doing a great job as our NEW Ezzy retailer.
Sorry for not getting more blogs up but I will get some pics and news on Mauritius and Brazil soon. Hope to see you on a clinic in Baja on Aug 21 – 29 this year or somewhere else.
Thanks to Liz from Cape Sessions for the Pix.
October Ireland action
Every autumn my coaching clinic tour sees me heading off to the west coast of Ireland to Brandon Bay in the county of Kerry where my clients and I are guests of Jamie Knox at his infamous lodge. Throughout the week i cover getting out, selecting waves and how to ride them in style. We also get a chance to go surfing / SUPing when the wind takes a break. Its unique geography allows you to side to side off wind in almost every wind direction and it picks up heaps of Atlantic swell. The local scenery is breathtaking and although it is a tad cold it is one of my favourite clinics of the year.
I also get the chance to give my clients a spin on the Ezzy wave panthers and freewaves and the joy RRd boards which always go down a treat. Get yourself out there sometime or come and join me on a clinic. The dates for 2009 are October 3 – 10. Waves, wind, Guinness and good times are guaranteed.
I hope to get some Mauritius and Brazil pix up here soon so stay tuned. Thanks to Tim for making the post about my Boardseeker technique series. Now please let’s have some warms South Westerlies in the UK : – )
Sweet shots from Rhodes
Hi there, just back from Rhodes in September and it was great to be coaching and freesailing with the Panthers and to see alot of my clients enjoying them as well.
My first group were well up for the loops so there was plenty of carnage but in the end some successful attempts. I did some more shots on the 7.0 freeride which was holding it together in 5.0 winds!
Please enjoy these nice shots from back in June from www.nuralikushkov.com, my good Danish friend. Meanwhile i will work through the freeride shots and post some up at a later date.
Freewave is rocking
After using the new Ezzy Freewaves in 5.8 and 5.2 quite a bit whilst out coaching in Rhodes and enjoying them so much i was itching to get out on the 6.3 which was back in the UK. The 6.3 had the same attributes as the other freewaves – smooth power delivery, very stable, light in the hands and an excellent tuning range. The fact that the sail has less shape than the 08 wave SE and 09 wave panther meant it was very easy for freestyle and for flipping in gybes. With the boom length coming down in both the freewave and the wave panther in the bigger sizes (6.3 to 5.2) they feel really throwabout.
Out in Rhodes my lighter riders and the freestylers who are part of Team Seasprite were loving the easy power and control through their moves and will definitely be slipping a freewave in to their quiver, alongside the panthers of course.
What also rocks is the new VTS which allows you to see exactly how to trim the sail and this is also present on the new freeride sail from Ezzy.
I am eagerly waiting for my production wave panthers now so i can test them out and enjoy them in full alongside my NEW RRD twinfins out in Baja. I am going there with solo sports for my first trip – excited is not the word.
